About
Maryann Fabrizio

With over 25 years of experience, I have had the privilege of helping people in Burlington, Waterdown, Hamilton and Oakville recover from injury, improve movement, and return to the activities that are important to them. I am a compassionate and highly skilled Registered Physiotherapist currently providing care at Movement Matters Physiotherapy in Burlington.

My approach is holistic and personalized, recognizing that no two people experience pain, injury, or recovery in the same way. I use advanced hands on manual therapy and soft tissue techniques, along with injury-specific exercise, and patient education to support long-term recovery. Simply put, this means skilled, hands-on care to improve how your joints and muscles move, combined with clear guidance to help you understand your body and restore function.

I treat a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries including:

  • Neck and back pain

  • Sports and overuse injuries

  • Muscle and joint injuries

  • Postural and movement-related pain

  • Joint stiffness and mobility limitations

I have a particular interest in women’s health-related musculoskeletal concerns, spinal dysfunction, core strength development, and upper body injuries. Not seeing your concern listed? Many conditions don’t fit neatly into one category, and care is always individualized.

Outside the clinic, I value time with family and friends and have spent many years supporting my sons’ involvement in sport. I am also involved in volunteering in my local Croatian community, which I find both meaningful and grounding.

I offer detailed assessments of movement and function followed by a personalized treatment plan tailored to you. My focus is on understanding how your body moves and identifying the underlying cause of your symptoms, not just treating the pain.

Treatment session are offered on a one-on-one basis and may include:

  • Manual therapy and joint mobilization

  • Individualized exercise and rehabilitation programs

  • Injury and post-surgical rehabilitation

  • Pain management and movement re-education

  • Advice on posture, ergonomics, and injury prevention

  • Shockwave therapy for persistent pain and tendon conditions

My goal is to help you return to your daily activities, work, and sport safely, confidently, and with lasting results.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive therapy that stimulates your body’s own repair processes, helping to break down scar tissue, increase blood flow, and trigger the regeneration of injured tissues.

Shockwave therapy is a hand held device that generates high intensity pulses (shockwaves) clinically proven to help with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Shoulder tendonitis or calcific tendonitis

  • Tennis or golfer’s elbow

  • Hip and gluteal pain

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel pain

  • Achilles tendinopathy and shin splints

Most patients notice improvement after just a few sessions, with lasting results that help you move better and live pain-free.

Shockwave therapy is generally delivered over 3-6 sessions with each session spaced about one week apart. For best results, shockwave therapy is combined with physiotherapy.
